"Lady Annaliese, wait!" The noblewoman halted in her tracks and waited for Carmion to catch up to her with a beam on her face. The angelic countenance forced Annaliese to smile back. "I have a present for you," Carmion said and produced a wooden horse and handed the carving to her. "For me? Whatever for?" Annaliese asked, surprised but taking the horse gratefully. "For defending my sisters. For helping me," was the child's answer. Annaliese watched the witch child leave with a smile smile.
