Printed in Mainz, Germany in the1450's by Johann Gutenberg. We know for certain about this printed Bible from a letter written by Enea Silvio Piccolomini (later Pope Pius II) dated March 12,1455 in which he refers to it. Written in Latin,the Gutenberg Bible is an edition of Jerome's "Vulgate" and was the first printed Bible, indeed, the first major book printed with movable type in the West. Some collectors think that it is the most beautiful book ever printed.

The Gutenberg Bible, printed in Latin with movable type in the Forty-seven copies are still in existence.
