MInerals can form crystals but so can elements like gold (shown), silver and copper. These heavy elements are the offspring of stars, created during the high-energy blasts of exploding super novas and hurled into space where they eventually fall onto a planet and can coalesce into crystalline shapes.  When you look at gold, you are looking at a bit of a long-dead star.

Kësterite and Mushistonite. Two rare species in one specimen. The Mushistonite coats a group of Kësterite crystals. The floater crystals of Kësterite are disphenoides, a crystallographic form that is not normally apparent, but which is very well defined in this case.
