RUSSIA AND FINLAND MAKE PEACE For 104 days the Finns stood up to the enormous power of the Red Army. Then with their Mannerheim Line irretrievably breached they made peace. The terms differed from those offered by Russia before hostilities began chiefly in that no Russian territory was ceded in return for that seized. As seen on this map, Finland ceded the whole Karelian Isthmus, an area in Central Finland and part of the Rybachi Peninsula.
Roolijaot broke down during the war years, when many traditional men's jobs were women in the delegation. Females were transferred to a series of paid work, as the war industry had to be kept in operation.
