Seventy two years ago today marked a turning point in World War II. It was June 6, 1944, D-Day, when the Allies landed at Normandy on the French coastline. The invasion is considered by historians as a major turning point of the war in Europe for the U.S. and its allies. NASA Langley had already spent years testing many of the war’s aircraft.
