Grand Duke Sergei Mikhailovich of Russia (1869 – 18 July 1918) was the 5th son of GD Michael Nikolaievich of Russia. He served as General Inspector of the Artillery. After the fall of the monarchy, he was murdered by the Bolshevik along with several other Romanovs relatives at Alapayevsk on 18 July 1918, one day after the murder of Tsar Nicholas II and his family at Yekaterinburg.

Grand Duke Sergei Mikhailovich of Russia October 1869 – 18 July was the fifth son of Grand Duke Michael Nikolaievich of Russia and a first cousin of Alexander III of Russia.

Grand Duke Alexei Mikhailovich (died on 2 March 1895) was the youngest son of Grand Duke Michael Nicolaievich of Russia. He was destined to follow a career in the Navy, but died of tuberculosis, aged 19. He received a Spartan upbringing that included sleeping in army cots and taking cold baths.  A brilliant boy of liberal heart and absolute sincerity, according to his brother Alexander, Alexei was intelligent and lively. At the age of 18, he was a tall, thin, good looking young man.

A photograph was taken before the Tsar Nicholas II and Anastasia were forced from their palace home, of the two sitting outside and the Tsar allowing Anastasia a puff on his cigarette. It’s not shown probably because it is of a child smoking, but it is a comical photo since Tsar Nicolas II looks like he is laughing and Anastasia is either about to laugh or about to cough.
