"Harvest in Provence" in June 1888 by Vincent Van Gogh (Zundert 1853 - Auvers-sur-Oisse 1890). Oil on canvas (50x60cm). The Israel Museum, Jerusalem. From "Wheat Fields" a series of paintings borne out of his religious studies and sermons, connection to nature, appreciation of manual laborers and desire to provide comfort to others. The painting, made just outside of Arles, is an example of how Van Gogh used color in full brilliance to depict "the burning brightness of the heat wave."
