The Marauders were definitely McGonagall's favorite students, especially James. Dude may have been a bit arrogant, but he was brilliant at the two things McGonagall loved most - Quidditch and Transfiguration.
This always bothered me in the books. I feel like in terms of parenting Neville had it just as bad as Harry, but never a word of complaint passed his lips. he knucked down, and became a helluva wizard! he would have made his parents so proud.
