Kayhan Kalhor was born in Kermanshah but grew up in Tehran. He began studying music at age seven. By age thirteen he was playing in the National Orchestra of Radio and Television of Iran. Continuing his music studies under various teachers.
Janus Pannonius Award 2013: Simin Behbahani was awarded the Janus Pannonius Award in 2013. The 86-years-old Persian poet was present at the ceremony on 29 of August in Pécs. Her first book in Hungarian is published by the Hungarian PEN Club and Pluralica during this week. “The lioness of Iran” has been nominated for the Nobel Prize in literature twice. The award named after the first Hungarian poet worths 50.000 Euros.
Ahmad Ebādi (Persian: احمد عبادی) (b. 1906 - d. 1992) (1285 - 1371 Š) was an Iranian musician and setar player. Born in Tehran, Iran. He was a member of the most extraordinary family of Iranian music. Ahmad’s father, Mirza Abdollah, was arguably the most influential figure in Persian traditional music, and his paternal uncle, Mirza Hossein Gholi, was well-known for his mastery in playing the tar. Ahmad’s paternal grandfather, Ali Akbar Farahani, was also a talented musician.
