August Derleth was a prolific Wisconsin-based writer who was the first publisher of H.P. Lovecraft. For mystery lovers he's the author of a collection of 70 stories featuring detective Solar Pons, a pastiche of Sherlock Holmes. These stories are no cheap imitation, and deserve to stand on their own merits as some of the finest in the genre. They are hard to find in print, but well worth the effort.
