Here is a small set of stone steps. Rather than being constructed out of individual stones, these steps are carved from very large stones. The stones are partially covered by moss which gives them a good patina and blends them with the landscape.
In 1959 Kiley designed this landscape as part of a estate. One of the most striking features is an allée of apple trees separating the main house from the guesthouse, which is reached by broad marble steps that rise over a low fieldstone wall.
