Argentinean sculptor Adrián Villar Rojas creates enormous sculptural works that seem like remnants of a science fiction movie set, or bizarre moments from a surreal dream. One of my favorite pieces is My Family Dead (2009), in which he created a life-size blue whale in the woods outside Ushuaia, Argentina. The beached cetacean is pockmarked with tree stumps, making me wonder if it’s being slowly claimed by the forest or perhaps it’s a native resident. Beautiful.

ASTERIA was the Titan goddess (perhaps) of the oracles and prophecies of night, including prophetic dreams, the reading of the stars (astrology), and necromancy.

This actually reminds me of the park behind me...Mantle Lake...the walking trail. I brought a stump home from there that I cut into a wide staff I woodburned and made to hang my jewelry. Perhaps another walk soon. Just me. I need some heart healing.

Because the Forest is so huge, it has a variety of climates and habitates. The areas further south are steamy jungles and treacherous swamps. Farther north cools off to deciduous forests. But for some strange reason, it ends closer up north, giving way to smaller, less dangerous conifer forests and tundra. Perhaps the Forest doesn't like the cold.

I think part of the forest will look like this in Wonderland. Although there will be lush green all around Alice, there will be a sort of ghostly, sinister, and supernatural that will encompass her. Everything in the kingdom will have eyes and ears, working just for the Queen (by force, most likely, of course). Although there will be light, Alice will be encircled by a feeling of unrest. Perhaps the Cheshire cat will appear somewhere around here.
