The 10 Stitch Blanket: An Elizabeth Zimmermann inspired blanket worked in any yarn using only 10 stitches. You start in the centre and work in a sort of square spiral, joining as you go. No sewing up needed!
Great idea: "For this blanket, Jane used double moss stitch and knit five "scarves" that were then sewn into one big blanket." Find a scarf pattern (or two) and then make scarves in to a blanket. More interesting than knitting a whole blanket!
I've pinned this before but love the pattern: A circular version of my Ten Stitch Blanket, this garter stitch spiral is worked on only ten stitches with virtually no sewing up. It’s shaped with short rows and any yarn and needles can be used.
Free blanket pattern Ten Stitch family of patterns is knitted one corner at a time, working from the outside in. The knitting is simple garter stitch; ten stitch wide strips are shaped with short rows and joined to the blanket as you knit.
