Lyle Simpson’s Why Was I Born? explores the psychology underlying religious belief, through the prism of Abraham Maslow’s "Hierarchy of Needs" and the Meyer-Briggs personality typology. Rejecting the easy answers of our society, Simpson addresses profound questions like “Why are we here?”, "How Do We Face Our Own Death?”, "Why Do We Need Others?", and "How do We Make Our Lives Significant?" from a humanist psychological standpoint.

Goooood morning! Every day I sit at Caribou and get my morning coffee fix and an hour or two or uninterrupted "quiet time". I was just waiting in line now and noticed a little blurb about the company and its beliefs. I read it and this phrase was born ...replace "What if?" with "Why not?" and I immediately was brought back to my late night college days... I vividly remember watching infomercials in my dorm room showing these home workouts and wondering "What if?"... "What if they work?"…

YOU DON'T DECIDE. A special re-post in honor of Eastover (Passover Easter) These are my three brothers in front of an oversized Jewish Star circa 1973. I wasn't born yet. I was a mistake...or an opportunity as I like to think of it. Here's the deal. No one gets to decide for us who we are or how we identify. We are both black AND white. We are non-practicing Jews. One brother is gay and the other two aren't. Many well-meaning folks often declare for me what I am or who I can be. I'm…

Photo Credit Here at CF, we spend lots of time creating outfits that are more affordable than the pieces we see coming down the runways. I mean, how many college girls do you know that can afford a (real) Chanel purse? That's why, while I find designer clothes inspiring, I'm often more inspired by the super stylish women behind the designs! Coco Chanel, born Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, was and is one of the most inspiring female fashion designers of all time. She learned to sew at an ea...

Yes, I Chose to Be Queer – I Was Not Born This Way, And Here’s Why That’s Okay | “Being gay is not a choice.” It's a common refrain in support of LGBTQIA+ rights – but what is it really saying about queer identity?

This is a post that I wrote for the lovely Rebecca of Little Mother’s Helper. I drank this bone broth after Massimo was born to help me get back on my feet, and since I just started to make a batch for Massimo (it was Ella’s first food as well) I thought I would bring it back around to share with you all! You can see the original post on the Little Mother’s Helper blog here. **** When I had to have an emergency C-section with my daughter Ella, who was breeched, I was devastated. I had done…

I'm not really sure what I should say other than what - Im not really sure what I should say other than what Im feeling right now. Im lonely. Ive been single for 4 years now since my fiance took off and I see no inclination that I will ever find anyone to spend my life with. I am lonely, broke, and sometimes I wish I was never born. Ive tried finding ways to pass the time. Talking to friends. Exercise. Hobbies. Ive tried talking to God. Not sure if I ever got an answer. I even used to talk…
