PRIDDEN STANDING STONE (c.April 2014) | Cornwall: 'This massive stone is 3.5m high and over 2m wide at its maximum. It is 0.4m thick and leans at a precarious angle. According to W.C. Borlase, who carried out an excavation in 1872, only 0.15m was set below ground. The remains of a cairn were heaped against the stone over a pit containing fragments of bone and ashes and covered by a small capstone. This was once an important Bronze Age site. A second stone lies in the hedge to the south.'…
