Women were actually highly revered in the viking age and had all the right of men and were also in battle with the men. They were called sheild maidens! So yea this is not true!

Viking reenactment: a linen undergarment, a brown woolen dress with long sleeves, and an apron dress with silk decorations and metal posaments. Also a blue coat, a checkered shawl and a pair of needle bound mittens (dyed with yellow leek). On my head I'm wearing a silk veil, fastened to a linen cap with two needles. Everything is hand sewn with waxed linen thread. The jewelry is mainly Birka (as the rest of the outfit), but the large box brooch in front is based on a find from Gotland.
