Yellow ground with horizontal rows of scrolling black stems, squared into a key or battlement design, & a row with red & white rosettes repeating alternately with grey & white. Finger tips are red. Short hand-knitted women’s stockings.  From Pomak immigrants, settled in the Biga district (Çanakkale province).  Ca. 1975.  Wool, orlon, lurex (plied into the white orlon yarn).  With diamond-shaped ‘ayna’ (mirror) pattern, which is an amulet against the evil eye.  (Inv.nr. çor160 - Kavak Costume Collection-Antwerpen/Belgium).
