Redeeming Love, by Francine Rivers is a historical romance novel set in the Gold Rush in California. The story is inspired by the book of Hosea from the Bible. Its central theme is to portray the redeeming love of God towards sinners.
A Child Called "It" Very sad. I don't know how the woman called herself a mother. The Lost Boy & A Man Named Dave are also very good books. I literally read A Child Called It and The Lost Boy in the same sitting.
