This is a small Fossiliferous Limestone abundant with fossils, a Rugosa Horn coral fossil beautifully protruding out the top with another small horn coral next to it, while the bottom side has a Cladopora coral fanning along the edge with a V shaped Cladopora branching to its side, possibly a few small (Aulopora) corals, surrounded by remnants of Crinoids and Brachiopod Shells within the limestone, and orange oxide Limonite inclusions; Raw, natural, and unpolished. The skeleton is often calcified when fossilized. The name Horn Coral is derived from their chambers resembling a horn shape. Cladopora is a type of branching coral, often mistaken as a bryozoa or favosites. These coral fossils have many tiny pores or holes, called corallites, where the coral animals called Polyps lived when the coral was alive. They are most abundant from the Paleozoic era in Devonian age limestones in Michigan, making these stones about 419.2-358.9 million years old. Crinoids are a type of Sea Lily, related to starfish, sea urchins, and sea cucumbers. They are still alive today, but are not as common or big as they were during prehistoric times. Their fossils are most abundantly found as small calcitic discs from their skeletal tentacles, while the heads are less common and can sometimes be found in a geodized "cauliflower quartz" form. Crinoids strived during the Paleozoic era through the Ordovician to Mississippian periods, but are most commonly found in Middle Devonian rocks, making these fossils about 485-323 million years old.
