This stained glass window is found in the St John the Baptist church in Buckland north of Hobart Tasmania. The window was brought from England to be placed in the new church by Reverend Cox the Rector. It is a mystery as this window is rumoured to be from "Battle Abbey" Battle, near Hastings built by William the Conqueror in 1068 after winning the famous "Battle of Hastings" The alter was built over the site where Harold died by the arrow. Well worth the visit! photo by jadoretotravel William The Conqueror, Buckland, Story Of The World, John The Baptist, Hobart, European History, The St, Tasmania, Stained Glass Windows
