Ball Turner. by th62 - A couple of ball turners.Number One:I wanted a tool I could just mount in the tool post rather than one that sits on top of the cross slide. I also wanted one that sat behind the work so I could get a better view, although it can be used at front as well, you just have to remove the handle, change the cutting head to the other end of the base and re attach the handle. Once mounted on the tool post, the compound is set parallel to the bed and to the rear of the

Mil/drilll Stop by thehomeengineer - Hi AllI made this very simple milling/drill stop 20 years ago, as I was shocked at the price of commercially made ones, which also looked a bit awkward to use. I wanted something quick and simple to set. Also not only restricted to a machine vice but usable with the dividing head, indexing head, angle plate, vee blocks etc. on both the mill and drilling machines.I use this daily and is one of the most useful tools I have ever made for the mill/drill. Leather Apron by Christophe Mineau - Hi,Here is a leather apron, made for the shop.I was inspired by a great luthier friend of mine who has one similar, and also by my grand'ma who had an apron with crossed straps on the back, which is more confortable than the usual strap that goes around the neck, and which also permits to make a larger front. The leather was salvaged from an old sofa and the buttons are home made, turned out of boxwood. (I don't like plastic buttons )Other

Homemade Mill Tilting Table by turntable - Hi everyone; Here is a pic of my latest project. It's a mill tilting table. sorry there is no drawings. most all my builds are just chicken scratches. If anyone needs a blue print will come up with something. Tilting tables are so handy you don't have to tilt the head and tram it back in again. It's .001 high in one corner but will take care of that problem when I get my next project done (homemade surface grinder). Should be finished shortly.

DIY Surface Grinder by tonyfoale - A while back I made a toolpost grinder for my lathe from a treadmill DC motor and the spindle from a small mill/drill that I found at a flea market. Click thumbnails for full size.I also used it on my T

Automated Pimped Router Table by Bellevue Woodshop - I built my third router table with all the bells and whistles I had missed on the previous versions, during my years of woodworking. This build included some automation, but the biggest improvement ( in my opinion) is the flip up trimmers.Video in the bottom of the post!!The router lift is built from an old sliding unit for a pneumatic cylinder.Driven by an old cordless drill hooked up to an acme thread via belt and pulley setup.Cu

Keyway Cutter by LMMasterMariner - Made keyway cutter which I needed to cut keyways in 14 gears and 2 pulleys for my present project (external lathe headstock gearbox - still in progress, but I can see the end).Made from 16 mm dia stainless steel round bar. Very simple to make but some elbow grease was used when filling the square hole for 6 x 6 mm square HSS bit. It can be used in lathe and drill.CheersLMMasterMariner

Lathe Carriage Stop Multiple with Unlimited Number of Stops. Cartridge Design by jjr2001 - Well ok, I only made 4 adjustable stops for mine. However the number is unlimited due to the cartridge design. The two main blocks were milled from hot rolled that I had on hand. The gate was made with the same.Cartridges are made of 1018 1/2

A Different QC Toolpost by olderdan - This is from an original design by J A Radford and was featured in the Model Engineer. The main advantage of this design is that it can be made without the use of a milling machine as indeed was mine and has been in use for 40 years on my South Bend.I can vouch for its sturdiness in use and it will still repeat to .0005 inches, it also gives a little more room when working close to the tailstock.Mr Radford as I recall made a drilling jig for the dowel

Machine Tool Dial Making Fixture by rossbotics - This tool was made for the purpose of reproducing the manufactures original machine tool dials; it will also function as a dividing head for general dividing as well, what intrigued me to make this tool was that I needed new machine dials for a 1950
