Orthodox Heritage Eastern Finland, and particularly Karelia, has a long tradition of Orthodox religious and other influences from beyond the border. These are still apparent in everyday life, for example in what people eat. In Orthodox homes you'll see icons on the walls, and often find a special "käspaikka", a small wash-basin for guests, with a hand-towel woven to traditional patterns.
Museum of Kronid Gogolev is located in Sortavala, Karelia.
