The Finnish Flag

The blue cross was first used by the Nyländska Jaktklubben (Swedish Yacht Club) in Helsinki (sic) and adopted as the National Flag by open competition after Finland's Independence from Russia in 1917. The Nordic Cross signifying Christianity was first used by Denmark and the current flag comes in defaced designs for the President and Military. It is also used informally for everything from sport strip to T shirts.
