Famous historical swords

Famous swords from all periods and all over the world. These are mainly either coronation swords and other swords used by kings and other notable people, or then "relics" said to have been used by famous and/or legendary (nonexistent) people. but in that case the swords are usually (much) later fabrications or just other swords wrongly attached to those persons. In either case, these swords are famous.

Sword of St. Stephen. It is a Carolingian sword, with a 10th century handle of Viking manufacture. It is likely the sword which Stephen received when he became ruling prince in 997. There are several theories concerning when and how the sword got into Prague - in an inventory of the treasury of Saint Vitus cathedral from 1355 it is already mentioned as Gladius beati Stephani regis Ungarorum cum manubrio eburneo.
