May Day is internationally known as a "Workers Day". In Finland it is also a big student celebration which begins on May Day Eve. Students, and former students, celebrate by wearing their white student caps. A traditional non-alcoholic beverage "sima" is served cool and Tippaleipä (a Finnish fritter) and sugary donuts go as sweet May Day snack. And don't forget your vappu accessories: noise makers, whistles, and balloons!
