At home on the living room floor, I constructed the pattern for the dress, cut out the pieces and started sewing the dress the day before the Christmas party. I was up until a little after midnight before the dress was "finished", because I actually chose to go to sleep instead of sewing the zipper. So on the day of the Christmas party, mom had to help me pin the dress together as invisibly as possible with safety pins where the zipper would be.
