This is a medieval gold finger ring, dating to the 14th - 15th century A.D. The raised bezel is set with a tourmaline gemstone in place of the original rock crystal or diamond. When originally discovered, this ring was missing the gemstone and had been professionally restored. The original diamond would have been of an octahedral shape, set with the point upwards. Similar rings of this date set with diamonds are rare but some recorded from LEIC-559D08, NCL-8BD8F4, BH-E6D3F8 and LVPL2060.
