Christmas and New Year are a time of relaxation for Finns. For many, it is the most highly anticipated time of the year, and the preparations for the holidays begin a long time in advance. Usually, Finns get to enjoy a white Christmas – snow transforms nature into a magical atmosphere. There are several Christmastime events in Jyväskylä, arranged under the common theme "Jyväskylä Christmas Village."
